Carl Sagan Quote
In the Face Book group: a quote from Carl Sagan that our Earth is just a mote of dust. My comment:
I see no point to reducing our perspective to just a mote of dust. Of course the universe is huge. A person is not like an atom, isolated in space, nor is the Earth. We are all part of our complex global human society (with its many social structures), a part of the diverse life on this planet, moving within our solar system, etc. Sagan belittles our context as social creatures in a complex universe. Every person regardless of their actions is still a part of humanity's evolution within the universe. He also discounts the many collections of bodies, like moons, planets, asteroids, stars, galaxies, in the universe, all interacting to some degree with others, including the Earth.
