Field Lines Exploding
In the Face Book group: Someone posted a video showing electric field lines from the sun exciting the aurora and then those lines exploded each time they crossed after going around the earth. My comment:
The explosions at lines crossing to the right of earth do not exist. If those explosions are supposed to be electromagnetic field lines breaking, or reconnecting, these flashes are nonsense.
There is an agreement on this: ' A magnetic Line of Force is an imaginary line representing the direction of a magnetic field such that the tangent at any point is the direction of the field vector at that point. ' ' An electric field line is an imaginary line or curve drawn through a region of empty space so that its tangent at any point is in the direction of the electric field vector at that point. The relative closeness of the lines at some place gives an idea about the intensity of electric field at that point. '
A electromagnetic field line is just a visual tool like a latitude line or longitude line. A magnetic field line has NO force and there is no such explosive event of a 'break' or 'reconnection' of an imaginary line.
